Discrimation against woman is very well known problem which is being discussed every step of life. Discrimination can be defined in Greek word as follows this is to distinguishing one with respect to colour, caste, religion, sex etc. This gender inequality has risen up to that extent so that woman has been exploited each and every stage of life.

The sex ratio is also uneven between the males and females. According to 2001 census the ratio of males over the females is approx 912 is to 100 and it’s kept on decreasing hour by hour. And now the ratio is reached to 829 is to 1000. In early Vedic period position of females is better than that of modern time. Women enjoyed an important position in society. Then monopoly was also be a usual practice. The opportunities were freely given to them for their education system. Many scholars even many women scholar have rights to prepare hymns. Hymns are some special type of prayer that people of early Vedic period offers to their all mighty gods while praying. No ceremonies are performed if wife is not present along with their respective husbands. Swayamwara was an unusual practice, where girls have full freedom to choose their husbands of her choice. There was no child marriage and widow remarriage was also being adopted.

Many social reformers like Raja Ram Mohun Roy, Annie Besant and likewise reformer struggle for abolishing the discrimination which was been in trend that time. So all of them are in support for discrimination against women. They all collectively started widow remarriage and abolished child marriage. They introduced monogamy which stated a man got married with only one women and this is also valid for women. So these are some practice that reformers do to enlighten the life of women.
